Autumn is here and the days are getting shorter and colder. Especially at this time of the year it is important to have a balanced diet and to strengthen your immune system. So a wholesome porridge is just the right thing for cold autumn days. When so many essential nutrients are already in your breakfast, you can only start the day with full energy.

These are the ingredients you need:Stärkendes Herbstporridge

  • 100 g oat flakes (freshly flaked with the Salzburg master flaker)
  • 400 ml water (or unsweetened plant based “milk”)
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
  • a pinch of clove powder
  • a pinch of ginger powder
  • 1 tablespoon of date sugar
  • 1 pear, 1 apple, plums
  • pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds
  • raisins or other dried berries
  • whole nuts

This is how you prepare your strengthening autumn porridge:

After you have flaked your oat flakes, put them in a pot with the water (or the plant based “milk”) and heat it up. As soon as the oat flakes have absorbed the liquid well and the whole thing turns into a mushy mass, turn the heat off. Then add the cinnamon powder, clove powder, ginger powder and date sugar. Stir the porridge and make sure that it does not burn. Of course you can always add more water if the mixture begins to stick to the pot or simply becomes too “firm”. Take the porridge from the stove and apportion it into bowls. Now you can add any topping you like: In autumn, for example, pears, apples and plums are suitable as fresh fruit toppings. Whole nuts and seeds  contain many important (micro-)nutrients. And raisins bring a wonderful sweet taste with them. Prepare your topping as you like – there are no limits to your creativity!
