It is best to store bread in a container that is not too tightly sealed. So, bread boxes, tins, pots or wooden bread stores with ventilation slits are suitable. It is optimal for the bread when the environment is consistently warm and dry. Therefore, bread boxes or the like should not be placed near window sills. It is also recommended that only bread goes into the bread box. Indeed, other pastries sprinkled with salt ensure that the bread is dehydrated. In addition, to prevent mold in the bread boxes, they should be regularly cleaned and removed from leftover crumbs.

If you don’t have a bread box or lunch box, you can use a cloth bag. This should always be clean and also dry and permeable to air. Under no circumstances should you store bread in plastic bags or other airtight bags.

It is good to know that bread should not be stored in the refrigerator, because if it is stored around 0 degrees, it will get old faster. So the bread keeps best at room temperature.

If you freeze bread, you should let it thaw slowly overnight in the kitchen. However, if you need the bread very quickly, wrap the bread in aluminum foil. Put it in the preheated oven. For about 35 minutes, the bread should bake at 200 degrees Celsius. Small bakeries are best taken out of the freezer only an hour before use and quickly placed in the preheated oven.

Now, if it happens that your bread gets hard, it doesn’t mean that you have to throw it away right away. For example, you can easily make breadcrumbs out of it. Another option would be to cut the bread into small cubes. Fry them in oil. Then you can enjoy them as croutons in salads or soups.
