Salzburger Grain Mill MT 5 Oak – Grinding according to old tradition

For more than 40 years, this mill has been almost unchanged in its appearance – elegant, timelessly beautiful. This grain mill, which is referred to by many as the Queen of Mills, is our masterpiece.

We preserve old values

and strive to build our grain mills as ecologically as possible.

We have always been passionate about technological improvements. When it comes to upgrading materials, we have however remained “traditional”.

Milling with natural granite stones:

Since the beginning of time, people have ground grain with natural stones. Granite is renowned for its durability, hardness and self-sharpening properties. This is what we consciously demonstrate through the warranty we offer.

Granite is nature in its purest form – without any bonding agent.

Impurities, such as pebbles that might be in your grain, are easily ground up by the granite stones. We are not aware of any stone particles breaking out and then getting into your flour.

Granite millstones therefore protect your teeth.

The FOOD grain is ground as naturally as possible with BIO granite stones.

Baking with flour ground on a natural stone is a real experience! Crispy breads, fragrant cakes and pastries reward the miller for his work.

Healthy cereal for breakfast?

Self-ground grain provides the precious foundation of a nutrient-rich breakfast.

Milling chamber made of domestic, solid and untreated woodThe milling chamber

is always manufactured from solid beech wood, as beech wood best meets the high demands.

The grain rubs against walls inside the milling chamber. That is why we do not use plastics in this part of the mill (except for the stone supports).

We deliberately give preference to beech wood, because for decades this wood has proven to be the best for this purpose in terms of

  • elasticity,
  • Abrasion
  • and durability

over the decades.

Unlike plastics, wood has an antistatic and antibacterial effect.

The coarse fine adjustment

is remarkably easy to operate with just one hand!

From FINE to COARSE or from COARSE to FINE can also be easily set during grinding by means of the rotary knob.

In contrast to a thread, the fineness of the flour is adjusted by raising and lowering the lower millstone.

This lifting and lowering system, similar to the clutch of a vehicle, changes the distance between the millstones and thus the degree of fineness of the flour.

The millstones are placed precisely parallel and flat on top of each other for decades and produce the finest flour.
The technically intelligent system has meanwhile proven itself over decades.

In line with our philosophy, we do not use commonly available threads made of plastic.

The 360 watt industrial drive unit

Is manufactured in Europe (not in China). It is dimensioned more powerful than needed and completely maintenance-free. The drives are durable and protected against overload. They are precisely matched to the size of the millstones.

The mill does not require any special maintenance.

The mill can be opened without tools for occasional cleaning. The elegant bayonet lock opens in seconds with a small twist movement.

Baking with flour ground on a natural stone is a real experience! Crispy breads, fragrant cakes and pastries reward the miller for his work.

There are things between heaven and earth,

that cannot be explained and yet exist. It is the same with the flour of the natural stone. Is it possibly to explain the way to bake with it scientifically? Hardly! But you can believe us when we say that old, experienced bakers have tasted this flour with the subsequent statement, in good Austrian:

Des is hoid no a Mö! (in English: That’s simply flour how it’s supposed to be!)

“We have been grinding our own grain for about 40 years. It was now time to replace the millstones again, as the fineness of the flour no longer met our requirements. A cost estimate showed that replacing the stones would cost two-thirds of the cost of a new purchase. So we looked for a suitable new mill and came across the Salzburger. What appealed to us immediately were the natural grinding stones made of granite. The natural grain between the natural stone, that’s what we wanted. In addition, the MT 5 in oak is simple and simply a beautiful piece that you like to look at, even if it’s standing in the corner. We are very satisfied with the flour. The fineness can be easily adjusted and thus our sourdough bread from rye , forest perennial grain and spelt is again airier than with the old mill. In addition, baked in a wood-fired oven, it smells and tastes simply delicious. It is pure quality of life.”

I am very satisfied with the mill. Not only the product is first class, but also the service was exemplary: milling rice (due to celiac disease), a lightning fast shipping and very friendly customer service! The warranty (25 years on the millstone) convinced me too from the beginnig. I can only recommend this mill to everybody!

I ordered two devices by e-mail from Agrisan in Hallein: a Salzburger grain mill MT5 and a Salzburger flake master. Our order was complicated: Agrisan had to send us the devices after a short notice to a hotel in Austria, where we were staying for only four days. We needed two invoices for each device, one for us and one to stamp at customs for VAT reclaim. Everything went smoothly. I was able to pay via PayPal and the VAT was promptly refunded to us via PayPal. Apparently it is not only about first-class devices, also the whole handling of the team. The customer service and assistance were excellent. My husband and I are very pleased.
