How to save time while cooking (part 1)

No matter what phase of life you are in, it can always happen that you simply do not have enough time to cook a good and wholesome dish.

We will show you in today’s article, what you can do to save time when cooking, so that the “quality” of the dish does not have to suffer and you still have a healthy diet. How to save time while cooking (part 1)

  • Build up a stock: In order to avoid another purchase and start cooking right away, it is a good idea to have a certain amount of food already at home. There are some things that can be stored for a very long time, such as pulses, pasta, rice or other cereal grains. Certain nuts and seeds/kernels can also last for a while.
If you are the owner of a Salzburg grain mill, the flour can already be pre-ground (for the next week for example). And if you want to bake your own bread, you could also bake two or three loaves. Depending on how much you use, part of it can be frozen as well.
Some other foods can also be stored in the freezer. For example vegetables or berries, which are not available at all times of the year, can be kept frozen for some time and are therefore always ready to hand.

  • Keep dishes simple: A lunch or dinner does not always have to be cooked in a very elaborate way. Keep your dishes simple, because even with few ingredients or only one course instead of three, you can eat well and healthy. A tip would be for example to make so-called One-Pot-Meals, where you prepare your meals in only one pot/pan.

  • Collect recipes and ideas: To avoid spending a lot of time searching for a recipe before cooking, collect some recipes in advance. With a certain “repertoire” of recipe ideas, it will be easier for you to listen to your appetite first and then just start cooking. You can also use your own recipe booklet to collect dishes that you have already tried and that you know will work quickly and taste good.

And next week we’ll be sharing even more tips on how to save time while cooking! See you soon!
