Carrots we can buy throughout the year. The reason for this is that they can be stored very well. Even though carrots are grown mainly in the warmer months of the year, they keep well for a long time and we can actually always find them in supermarkets and vegetable markets.
So the spread we are presenting to you today can be made at any time of the year. The great thing is that the recipe is really very simple and can be prepared quite quickly.
ingredients for the carrot spread
- 6 carrots (organic if possible)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons sesame paste (tahini)
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp pepper
- 1 tsp paprika powder
- optional: some oregano, cumin powder, garlic powder
First, cut the carrots into pieces (about 3 cm thick). If you have organic carrots, it is not really necessary to peel them. Then steam or boil them for about 10-12 minutes until they are soft.
Now put the carrots in a tall container with the rest of the ingredients and puree with a hand blender. If you have a stand mixer or a food processor, you can use them as well. If the carrot spread has now become a fine mass, you can season it again if necessary.
Then fill the spread into clean, sealable jars and store it in the refrigerator. Or, of course, you can enjoy it right away. On a homemade wholemeal bread the carrot spread tastes really wonderful!
Enjoy it and see you soon,
